Here’s just a few fun finds for your fourth! May the fourth be with you! God bless the USA. And for those that have fought to keep us free, thank you. Now let’s do sparklers and smores!

Santa Barbara is one of my favorite cities. The Oregon Coast is so mysterious and beautiful. The Adirondacks are…I have no idea, I haven’t been there – but now I WANT to! If you’ve got the vacation days left this summer, check out Airbnb‘s #5-7 top destinations. All of these home tours are beautiful – perfect little getaways. Now if only I didn’t have two young children standing between me and an airline ticket…

This morning, Margot woke up with a cold, I woke up with pink eye and Oliver is still fighting reflux. But Grandma came to the rescue with the elder of the two kiddos (have I mentioned how much I love them living close by?) and Oliver had a good therapy day. I even got to see him open his hand and grasp a toy. It’s the little things. Here are this week’s other little things:

// Sure, she drew on a medical bill, but I am really loving my daughter’s latest art technique of just layering and grouping color. I think I need to give her some specific colors and a canvas and tell her to run with it!

// World Market is killing it with their current jewelry collection! I’ve pinned half of the inventory! And earrings for $4.99? Come on!Screen Shot 2014-06-27 at 9.13.16 PM// The Washington Schoolhouse hotel is making me salivate.

// A fantastic DIY bench made from a coffee table and a rug comes from Little Green Notebook. It looks so good I can’t even believe it wasn’t a bench originally.

// Faith in humanity is restored in this wonderful collection of kindnesses. I need a little uplift more often than I used to. Dare you not to cry.

// A fantastically cool home in LA. Makes me miss my Cali.

// I took the “Which Designer is Your Spirit Animal?” quiz at Lonny. While I’m not sure how I’d feel being called anyone’s Spirit Animal, I think Nate is pretty dead on for my style description. (Or maybe it is I who is Nate’s Spirit Animal…? Ehhh?)

Screen Shot 2014-06-27 at 3.23.13 PM// Alan and I have been daydreaming about owning a Jetstream. Here’s what I want it to look like. Onboard, Alan? Oh, and we can never take the kids. Ever.

// The most simple piece of art, but so beautiful and profound.

// Kristin’s finish choices for her dream home are right up my alley. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

// I love the Nester’s encouragement toward simplicity and self-acceptance. She always sets me straight.

// You can makeover vinyl with fabric and mod podge. I know of a few vinyl stools that could totally be attacked in the near future.

// The before and afters of the House Tweaking home are so amazing I just can’t even see the same house in them!

// I will go glamping with these ladies any day. Watch them rent a yurt and turn it to a turn-of-the-century British safari.

// Maybe instead of art, you paint that accent wall with a color block!

As the ancients say, may your weekend be free of stress and your eyes free of unnatural color.

Hi Carrie! It truly is a small world, isn’t it? Thank you for the readership and the prayers. I’ll need both! Blessings!ReplyCancel

I love color trends and forecasting. Pantone is the absolute authority on this science and their fall forecast palette is beautiful. To celebrate, I will feature a different color from that forecast every Friday until fall begins and show how you can beautifully incorporate them into your wardrobe and home.

The first color, Radiant Orchid, is Pantone’s color of the year and has gotten plenty of press. It’s a vibrant, sassy purple that can be just as effective as a pastel as it is a neon pop of color. Pantone Fall forecast - Radiant Orchid at home |

Tea at Three Art Print // Lavoisier Pendant Lamp // Safavieh 2-Pack Embroidered Color Pop Toss Pillows // Nate Berkus Decorative Pillow 18″ – Purple Triangles // Ballad Stripe Notebook // Bedspread // Nate Berkus Chevron Area Rug – Camel/Purple // Pop Desk Lamp // Plum & Bow Blackberry Planter

Pantone Fall forecast - Radiant Orchid for you |

Amalfi Espadrilles // Artisan-Made Ikat Scarf // F1810 Matte Round Sunglasses // Gem Drop Earrings // Aviator Sunglasses // Worthington High-Low Burnout Tank Top // ASOS Mini Cross Body with Chunky Fitting // Fresh Orchid Nail Polish // Anouche Strappy Sandals // One-piece Swimsuit // XOXO, Mona Eye Shadow Palette // Xhilaration Patent Skinny Belt – Raspberry Purple // Worthington Sleeveless Striped Fit-and-Flare Dress
