We’re five weeks into the steroid injections with one week to go. We think they’ve been successful so far but will wait for his next EEG to really know for sure. It’s been a challenge. We’ve had to keep him home from all social functions and church. We’ve had to watch him in pain with steroids, teething and constipation. We’ve had many more sleepless nights since he’s had to sleep with us for the second half of every night. And then there’s the constant worry that the seizures will come back. IMG_0140But he’s been a brave soldier, most nights not even crying at his shot. And as we’ve tapered off, the smiles and the sleep are coming back and the Oliver we know is emerging again.

In other good news, we’ve finally got chairs ALL the way around our table! We sold our old chairs when we moved into our new house and in typical fashion, I’ve survived off of a bench and recently, two knock-off tolix chairs. But it’s been forever that I’ve been searching for an affordable option for the other side of the table. And when Target put out a Windsor chair in several fun colors, I knew I had my winner.IMG_0142

There’s nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby, especially one with cheeks that huge. 🙂 lovely chairs, too.ReplyCancel

Love them and the metal chair too! I’ve been looking at new chair ideas and this is a great idea. The table we have is solid, but the chairs are not so great…wobble wobble. Glad to know that Ollie is smiling and acting like his sweet self again. He’s a cutie!ReplyCancel

The final of the cool water tones for the Pantone Spring Color Forecast is also the “anchor” color. An anchor needs to have staying power. It needs to be true, clear and steady. It needs to be a classic. Classic Blue is just that. If there was a blue that is “just blue”, not teal or indigo or royal, it is this. Blue with no other undertones. It never goes out of style and never falters. And anchors are exactly what my life could use right now.

It is no surprise to anyone that this jadeite minty green is still going to be going strong this spring. (Good thing, because it’s the color of my kitchen!) Lucite Green makes me think of vintage dental cabinets, lime sherbet punch, and 1950s advertisements. Generally, it’s one of my favorites of late. It seems I am not alone.

I recently had a conversation on Facebook with a friend who mocked me about still shopping at Forever 21. Soooo, it IS true that I’m taking the name and running with it. BUT I still hold that if you shop online and look in a discerning way, there are plenty of age-appropriate clothes for amazing prices.

Their most recent promotion is a Shop Your Style and it lists the six fashion styles of women that shop their clothes. I fall squarely in the Minimalist category and I have to say that their curated selection for this style is so excellent. When it’s all put into one place with all the skater looks and cartoon tshirts removed, the clothes look far more expensive than they are. And the description is perfect. I’m such an off-off-duty model. Way off duty. So off that I’m wondering if people lost my number.

Screen Shot 2014-09-29 at 10.01.29 PMHere are a few picks from the collection.

Which of the six fashion styles are you?

Sometimes a single piece jumps from the computer and grabs you by the eyeballs. You go back to it throughout the week just to say hi. It might even be good enough to build an entire room around. And since it costs me no money to do that in blogland, why don’t we? Introducing “Inspired By…” – the post where I feature the can’t-live-without piece and the room that should house said piece.

While shopping for dining chairs for my actual dining room, I came across the Peekaboo Chair. It’s gold. It’s got a white leather wrap. It’s called Peekaboo. This chair is the furniture version of Marilyn Monroe. Screen Shot 2014-09-28 at 10.33.12 AMAnd while it may be a dining chair, I think she should be the guest chair for your most fabulous clients in your new office! This room was a little painful to create considering the state of our actual downstairs office. (No pictures of this available. You’re welcome.) Someday…

So I couldn’t possibly resist commenting on this post due to my obsession with all things gold and the fact that I’m currently in the oh-so-exciting process of redecorating my own home office. In the event that you’re in the market for something similar but budget-friendly, I Just bought the Tobias chair at IKEA. A few coats of gold paint on the legs, a faux sheepskin on top, and voila!

I’m loving the other items on this mood board and just may be purchasing a few.

    XOXO, OksanaReplyCancel

Totally awesome idea! I actually decided to go less glam for the actual room. It’s a farm table and I have a bench on one side and metal tub chairs on the end and finally decided on the new Windsor chair from Target in grey for the other side. 2 for $100! ReplyCancel
